Hello All! There are some notices to take note
1) Sec 2s (2010), please memorise the set of Akiyama warm ups (Low chromatics, Fifths, Fourths, Thirds) by end of January. You will be tested on them when the date is near. You will not be allowed to refer to the paper that we've given you once it's Feb.
2) Sec 2s (2010), please memorise "Majulah Singapura" and the school song by end of january. You will be tested on them as well. If you're not sure about the rhythm or the notes please approach any of your seniors.
3) There will be sectionals on either mondays or tuesdays when school reopens (In january), so please keep both days free.
4) Please practice hard on the orientation pieces, Sing, Tomorrow & Nobody. These pieces are to be perfected before 16th January, so you only have about 2 weeks to learn them. We will be working on these pieces over the next few band practices and during sectionals, but you are expected to get your notes correct (e.g your flats and sharps especially for nobody)
That's about it. Please work hard on the pieces for orientation, because they determine how many juniors we're gonna get :)

Hi all!
Today marks the last day of band practice for the break for the exam, and it was also the secondary one recital and section competition!
Sec ones, we're all really proud of you guys, to have been able to come such a long way from January to now, the improvement you all have made has been really great! :) From hardly any knowledge on your instrument, to what you all are today!
"Change is easy, but sustaining change is hard",
do keep this in mind, as you strive and work harder to improve your tone and technique on the saxophone. The change that you all have experienced is probably going to be one of the greatest in your secondary school life, yes, it is easy to see the improvements in your playing, but always remember that in order to maintain your tone and constantly improve yourself, you have to practice regularly, not only when a concert or performance is coming up. As of today, you guys have graduated out of "essential elements", and will be learning more things, and soon, you will be on the stage performing your concert pieces with the whole junior band. I really hope you guys will improve tremendously as time progresses, put in more effort to finding out more about your instrument (which includes taking care of it and not banging it around!) and if you're ever in any doubt, just feel free to approach any of us, we'll be more than happy to help you guys! :)
Sec 2s & 3s, though we may have won the title of the section of the year for 2009, please continue to work harder, and improve our sound and ensemble-ship(If there's such a thing), but you get my point! :) We really have to listen to each other a lot more, and there is definitely a lot of room for improvement, especially on our concert pieces. I know all of you have put in a lot of effort into this section competition, and I really appreciate that fact, for without any of you guys, the title wouldn't have been ours, and we wouldn't have made it this far. So thank you all for putting in the effort and spending time to practice the pieces, and acting (hehehehehe). Thanks for making this section competition a meaningful one for us (Sec 3s), it'll be your turn next year sec 1s & sec 2s! :)
Seniors, Thanks for coming down today, and giving us so much strength, to put up a good performance. You guys being there, were already good enough for us :)
To end off, I'm really proud of every single one of you in the section, study hard during the break and practice occasionally, and we'll see you guys after the exam break! :)

Our blog hasn't been updated since a long time ago, so here goes, :)
Section competition & Sec 1 Recital is coming in one week's time (!!!!). Please work hard on your recital pieces respectively and section competition pieces mainly, can't take my eyes off you, hard to say I'm sorry, you are not alone, and heal the world. We'll be working on the songs together during sectionals, so try to get your parts ready by then. :)
Attire (sec 2s & sec 3s) : Band polo tee & Jeans
(sec 1): Full school uniform - Blouse & Pinafore & School socks
Hopefully our section comp pieces won't last more than 7 minutes ... Start studying guys! The exams are in about one more month's time! :)
